According to Anželika Oraitė, Director of the Department of Pharmacy Policy at the Ministry of Health, the scope of compensated medicines is expanding, marking a step toward improving patient access to necessary medications. Oraitė announced that the current price list now includes a record number of medicines. As of July 1st, 2,244 preparations are being compensated, representing a significant increase compared to the first half of the year.
This expansion includes 280 new medicines with brand names added to the official price list. The inclusion of these medicines aims to broaden the availability of affordable healthcare options for the public. In terms of supply composition, 373 of the newly compensated medicines are imported.
Analyzing the structure of the list, the second half of the year’s price list covers medicines belonging to 910 drug groups. This compares to the first half of the year, which featured medicines from 1,000 drug groups. The Ministry emphasized that the consistent growth in the number of medicines on the list, alongside the steady increase in drug groups covered, underscores the ongoing effort to manage the national drug price structure.
The updated list details the compensation status for a vast array of pharmaceutical products, ensuring that a growing selection of necessary medicines remain accessible to patients through the established price mechanism.
