The most interesting numbers of the World Cup group stage: L. Messi and C. Ronaldo caught my attention.

The Panama national team failed to register any goals during their group stage matches. Notably, every other competing national team, even those that recorded multiple losses, managed to score at least one goal, while the Panamanian side scored none. Their matches resulted in losses, including a 0-1 defeat against Ghana and Croatia, and a 0-2 loss to England.

Furthermore, several other national teams did not manage to score points during the group stage. Specifically, Haiti, Tunisia, Iraq, Jordan, and Uzbekistan all failed to score in their respective group fixtures. Regarding Asian representation, only the Japanese national team secured qualification for the knockout stage, which some observers considered the only “true” Asian qualifier.

The remainder of the continent’s participating national teams—including Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, Jordan, and Uzbekistan—were among the group match losers and were eliminated from the tournament.
