State Fire Rescue Service officers maintain a regular presence at the “Žalgirio” arena during all scheduled games. This consistent deployment has provided the Žalgiris players with unique opportunities to engage directly with the firefighters and observe their operational environment firsthand. During a recent session, several Žalgiris athletes, including S.
Lee and D. Giedraitis, participated in an interactive demonstration of emergency procedures. The players tested various tasks simulating real-world rescue scenarios.
Activities included using specialized pliers to cut through vehicle materials and handling high-pressure fire hoses. The engagement allowed the athletes to gain insight into the physical demands of the profession. One player noted the substantial nature of the gear, commenting that the weight of the firefighters’ protective uniforms made him thought the weight to be approximately 15 kilograms.
The experience culminated in the team testing the fire hoses. While the initial interaction was engaging, the surprise element occurred when the water was activated, wetting several members of the players contingent. The visit provided a practical educational outing, allowing the team to appreciate the rigorous training and specialized equipment utilized by the State Fire Rescue Service.
The exchange served not only as recreation but also as an educational exposure to emergency response protocols.
