Estimates provided by the French defense company Naval Group indicate that the scope of the planned naval initiative will constitute a comprehensive industrial and technological program. The development will generate substantial employment opportunities, with most of the required jobs centered around ship design and construction activities in Klaipėda. Furthermore, the projected workforce allocation includes approximately 150 positions dedicated to equipment production, supplemented by roles in maintenance and research and development projects.
Naval Group estimates that the entire duration of this multi-year program will account for more than four million working hours. Financially, the company projects that a minimum of 30% of the total contract value will remain within the Lithuanian economy. This retained value will be channeled through local industrial activities, research efforts, and ongoing maintenance services.
According to the company, the commitment extends beyond the delivery of new vessels for the Lithuanian Navy. The investment is framed as a long-term commitment aimed at bolstering Lithuania’s industrial capabilities. This involves facilitating technology transfer, advancing high-added-value research, and strengthening the nation’s overall industrial competence within the defense sector.
