According to reports from the Alytaus district police, a vehicle accident occurred in the Prienai district early on the morning of July 19. The incident took place at approximately 1:00 AM on the roadway connecting Išlaužas, Klebiškis, and Igliauka. The accident involved two vehicles: a Mercedes-Benz sedan and a Goes Terrox 500L four-wheeler.
Authorities stated that the operator of the Mercedes-Benz, identified as a man born in 1997, was allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated and without the legal authorization to drive. Due to the impairment, the driver reportedly lost control of the car. This loss of control resulted in the Mercedes-Benz collided with the four-wheeler, which was being operated by a man born in 1991.
Following the impact, the driver of the four-wheeler sustained injuries and required immediate medical attention at the scene. Police confirmed that the collision took place within the boundaries of the Prienai district. In response to the incident, law enforcement officials immediately initiated procedures and opened a pre-trial investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
The investigation is currently focused on establishing liability and reviewing the sequence of events leading to the vehicular collision.
