The Russians are sounding the alarm: after the flood, the ground is just slipping underfoot

Residents in Kamyšlovo, Sverdlovsk region, reported significant impacts following periods of intense rainfall and subsequent flooding. The area experienced changes to the local landscape, including slides and landslides near residential structures. The flooding reached neighboring Obukhovsky street and adjacent residential quarters.

The aftermath of the severe weather brought various reports from different communities. In the Krasnogvardeysky village, for instance, reports noted a considerable accumulation of fish in the forest following the flood. Photographs indicated that the fish were found lying just on the ground after the waters receded.

Local residents reportedly collected the catch, comparing the abundance to finding mushrooms. A separate incident occurred in the Bulanaša village. During the flood, a family of three succumbed to toxic fumes within their cellar.

Authorities determined that the deaths resulted from a fatal combination of circumstances, specifically methane gas emanating from nearby mines into the storage area. These events highlight the multifaceted challenges posed by extreme weather in the region. The combination of rising water levels, geological instability, and hazardous gas seepage posed serious risks to the local population.

The incidents underscore the need for monitoring infrastructure and ensuring safety protocols are in place in areas susceptible to rapid environmental changes following major flood events.
