A revised development plan has been submitted for a significant commercial structure in Kaunas, indicating that the scope of the new project is substantially larger than initially envisioned. The updated proposal suggests a building nearly double the size of the first plans. This development is strategically situated immediately adjacent to a prominent city landmark, a feature highly visible to vehicles entering the city limits.
The initial proposal for this site was first published on the city’s official website in May 2021. At the plot located at Savanorių pr. 406A, adjacent to the main exit from Kaunas, the company “Kauno saulėtekis” planned to construct a 13-story building, reaching a height of 50 meters.
Under the original specifications, the ground and first two floors were earmarked for use as car showrooms, while the remaining upper levels were designated for office space. The emergence of this significantly scaled-up development has drawn attention to the planning process. Furthermore, it has been noted that the company “Kauno saulėtekis” is associated with an individual who is both a member of the Kaunas city council and the son of the Mayor of Kaunas.
These updated project proposals, if approved, would fundamentally alter the architectural landscape near the city’s main entry point, making the new structure a major focal point for commuters and city planners alike.
