The Seimas did not approve N. Meilučio candidacy for the Presidentship of the Court of Appeals

According to an announcement made by Raimondas Šukys, Chairman of the Seimas, the proceedings regarding the leadership of the court saw significant voting activity. N. Meilutis was put forward for a second term as the court president, and the vote revealed that 25 Seimas members supported the candidacy.

Conversely, 53 members voted against the nomination, while 24 parliament members chose to abstain. In separate judicial matters, the Seimas also declined to approve the appointment of Mariaus Bartninka to a judge position on the Supreme Court of Lithuania. Beyond the legislative body, other national developments were reported.

Regarding legal proceedings, an article noted that a VTEK decision concerning I. Ruginiene-L. Kasciunas’s reaction is anticipated to serve as further grounds for losing a position.

In response to these judicial developments, the Presidency issued a statement indicating it would not be commenting on the VTEK decision related to Ruginiene’s case. In unrelated national security news, the Lithuanian Navy was reported to have provided assistance during NATO exercises, rushing to the scene of a reported disaster. These varied events highlight the ongoing activities across Lithuania’s political, judicial, and defense sectors.
