The Sprints Foundation allocates 1 million euros to strengthen investigative journalism in Lithuania

The Lithuanian Investigative Journalism Foundation currently reports a capital of 4.1 million euros, supported by contributions from 105 natural persons and 12 legal organizations. The mission of the foundation centers on supporting robust and impactful journalism. According to reports, the work of investigative journalism is crucial for ensuring the accountability of governmental institutions and organizations while simultaneously strengthening an open society.

“Pamatai” plays a role in assessing and encouraging journalists who undertake this complex and resource-intensive form of journalism. Henrik Persson, the managing partner of Sprints, stated that Sprints is pleased to contribute to the initiative, viewing it as a means to bolster transparency, trust, and democratic values. Sprints is noted as one of Europe’s leading technology growth funds, maintaining offices in London, Stockholm, Milan, and Luxembourg.

The financial backing received by the foundation underscores the growing importance placed on independent reporting. By securing substantial capital, the foundation is better positioned to support long-term, in-depth investigative journalism projects, thereby reinforcing the pillars of democratic oversight within Lithuania.
