The STT conducts searches at the company “Mažeikių vandenys”

A search operation is currently underway in Mažeikiai, conducted by the Special Investigation Service (STT), as part of an ongoing investigative trial. According to STT representative Renata Keblienė, the pre-trial investigation focuses on potential corruption-related criminal offenses linked to the activities of a specific company. Keblienė confirmed that, at this stage, no individuals have been formally accused of wrongdoing.

The investigation is being managed and overseen by the prosecutors from the Šiauliai Regional Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Corruption. The scope of the inquiry has drawn attention to several matters. For context, the reporting notes several related cases, including an instance involving a Vilnius businessman’s scheme and a separate “wind turbines” case.

In the latter, a Polish national received a fine of 100,000 euros following judicial proceedings. In that investigation, the mayor was questioned in his capacity as a special witness. The STT’s involvement suggests a significant probe into corporate dealings.

The ongoing efforts aim to establish facts regarding potential misconduct within the company’s operations. The authorities are maintaining a methodical approach, ensuring that the investigation proceeds under the proper legal oversight of the regional prosecutor’s office. The continuous nature of the investigation means that details regarding the company and its activities remain central to the current legal proceedings.
