The Vilnius City Council has confirmed that all organizations applying for financial support met the necessary criteria and subsequently received funding through the established program. The financial package provided consisted of a fixed allocation of three thousand euros, supplemented by additional funding earmarked for each physically disabled individual, up to a maximum of two hundred euros per person. Vice-Mayor Vytautas Mitalas stated that the dedicated funding is expected to significantly aid the development of paralympic sports.
He noted that previously, participating organizations representing people with disabilities competed in joint city sports competitions and faced considerable competition. He expressed satisfaction that the dedicated funds will help advance this sector. The selection process for these organizations involved a thorough assessment based on several factors.
Applicants were evaluated on their adherence to formal requirements, the established nature and consistency of their activities, the quantity and organizational share of physically disabled participants in sports, and the completeness of the documentation submitted. This funding mechanism aims to support specialized athletic development for individuals with disabilities within the city’s sports community. The allocation of euros is designed to provide stability and resources, enabling these organizations to enhance their programs and participation levels.
The Council’s review process ensured that support was directed to groups demonstrating both formal compliance and a consistent commitment to disability sports initiatives.
