The VTEK will collect information on possible contacts between Živilė Piniguvienė and businessman V. Guobis

VTEK deputy head Virginija Aleksejūnė confirmed on Tuesday that the organization is currently gathering additional information before determining whether to proceed with a formal investigation. This statement follows the Special Investigations Service (SIS) initiating an inquiry last week concerning the circumstances surrounding the purchase of an apartment in Palanga, belonging to municipality council member Maria Gudoniene’s mother. The scrutiny was prompted by investigative reporting from the news outlet Delfi.

Delfi’s journalism alleged that M. Gudoniene may have acquired the Kunigiškėse apartment at a price significantly below the prevailing market rate. The property was reportedly sold to her by V.

Guobys, the owner of the company “Vilmstata.” V. Guobys is identified as a businessman who secured a municipal election victory through a public tender process conducted by the Širvintos municipality. The ongoing focus remains on the details of this property transaction.

While the SIS has launched its inquiry into the acquisition, the commentary from VTEK suggests that a thorough review of all available information is prerequisite to any definitive action. This procedural caution indicates that the decision to escalate the matter into a full investigation hinges on the completeness and findings derived from the preliminary data collection phase.
