There will be no way back after the deadline: there is less and less time left to carry out this action

As of June 1, 2026, the total number of registered wells in Lithuania stands at 5,591. The distribution of these wells varies across various administrative areas, with the highest concentrations recorded in specific district municipalities. Currently, the Vilnius district reports 1,359 registered wells, followed by Trak district with 301, Klaipėda district with 274, Molėtų district with 257, and Kaunas district with 248.

The Lithuanian Geological Service (LGT) manages the registration of these wells and confirms that the service itself is provided free of charge. However, a one-time fee must be paid into the VMI account for the registration process. For households utilizing up to 10 cubic meters of water daily for domestic purposes, the stipulated fee is 15 euros.

Comprehensive guidance regarding the necessary documentation and the full registration procedure is published in the consultation section, where templates for required forms are also available. The established procedure for registering new wells remains unchanged. It is crucial for all residents to adhere to the mandatory timeline: documentation for newly installed wells must be submitted to the LGT within 60 calendar days of installation.

Therefore, maintaining compliance with this 60-day window is paramount for all property owners. Understanding these guidelines ensures that all existing and new wells are properly recorded within their respective districts.
