The Vilnius County Police Department (VPC) received multiple reports detailing instances of alleged fraud involving individuals posing as service workers. On July 13, the VPC documented two separate incidents of reported deception. The first report, received at 3:53 p.m., concerned a woman who stated that on July 6, she was visited at her residence in Vilnius by a Russian-speaking man.
This individual claimed to be an employee of a telecommunications company. According to the victim, she was misled into providing him with a total of $13,000 USD and €1,700 EUR. Later that same day, at 3:53 p.m., a second woman contacted the department.
She alleged that on July 13, at approximately 3:20 p.m., she was visited at her home on Kintų g. in Vilnius. The perpetrators, who were unknown to her, claimed to be representatives from both telecommunications firms and banks.
She stated that these individuals successfully deceived her into handing over €10,000 EUR. In both reported cases, the victims were approached at their private residences, suggesting a pattern of targeted deception within the community. The police department has received these accounts, indicating that the victims were systematically misled by individuals claiming professional affiliations.
Authorities are investigating the details surrounding these incidents that occurred throughout July in the Vilnius area.
