Thunderclouds are already in Lithuania: residents share the first images

According to data reported by Meteo.lt at 18:10, the first storm centers have reached Marijampolė and Alytus counties. Forecasters predict that the intense rain zone is expected to expand across numerous southern places of the country over the coming hours. The report warns that many areas may experience brief periods of rain accompanied by thunderstorms.

Conditions are forecast to range from moderate downpours to heavy rainfall, with strong wind gusts anticipated between 15–20 m/s, and in some locations, gusts reaching up to 25 m/s, alongside the potential for hail. This forecast follows information presented by a meteorologist on the “Weather and Climate” Facebook page, which shared the latest calculations from the European Storm Laboratory (ESSL). The ESSL data indicates that the highest probability for thunderstorms and hail will be concentrated in the southern and southeastern regions of the country.

Regarding the overall weather pattern, forecasters have addressed the transition away from warm conditions. They stated that the period of heat is set to conclude. Conditions are currently favorable for the cessation of hot weather on the current day, and similar patterns are anticipated for the following day.

The incoming severe weather suggests a significant shift in atmospheric conditions across the affected regions.
