TS-LKD will organize open candidates’ elections for the mayor of Kaunas at the end of the summer(1)

L. Kasčiūnas stated that during a recent visit, he observed significant potential within Kaunas, noting the city’s active citizenry and community engagement. From a strategic viewpoint, he views Kaunas as a vital center, emphasizing the political necessity of regaining the trust of its residents.

To achieve this, Kasčiūnas highlighted the importance of open elections. He specified that participation in these upcoming municipal elections should include not only members of the TS-LKD but also Kaunas residents who are not affiliated with the party. According to Kasčiūnas, the goal is to elect a mayor who can steer the city toward a constructive, Western-oriented direction, steering clear of populism and affiliations with nations deemed unfriendly to Lithuania.

The political process for these elections is structured around a defined timeline. Under the planned order, candidates are scheduled to stand within the Kaunas TS-LKD branches until July 20th, with final candidate approvals expected by the end of that month. Following this, the registration of party supporters is set to take place between August 8th and August 20th.

The municipal elections themselves are scheduled for August 20th. These steps outline the procedural framework intended to shape the future leadership and direction of Kaunas.
