Acting on preliminary intelligence received from service scouts, the officers approached a boarding gate where they identified two young men who prompted further inquiry. The pair presented digital boarding cards on their phones, indicating preparations for travel to Berlin, Germany.
Initially, the individuals stated that they did not possess personal identification documents. The border guards escorted the two men to the dedicated service rooms at the border control point for further examination. During questioning, one of the men identified himself as a 20-year-old Algerian citizen and subsequently admitted to entering Latvia illegally from Belarus.
