Two more Russians who spoke Lithuanian deceived the people of Vilnius and lost their money

The Vilnius County Police Department has reported two separate incidents of alleged fraud involving sophisticated phone scams targeting residents in Vilnius. In both cases, victims reported being deceived by individuals posing as representatives of official institutions. On June 23rd, the police received a report concerning an incident that occurred on April 14th.

The first victim, a man born in 1952, stated that at 12:35 pm in Vilnius, he received calls from unknown Russian-speaking callers. These individuals allegedly impersonated employees from a telecommunications company, a bank, and law enforcement officers. Through this deception, the man reportedly lost a sum of 21,000 euros.

A second incident was reported to the police on the same day, June 23rd. A different man, born in 1953, reported that on that date, at 1:00 pm, he was targeted by unknown Russian-speaking individuals. Again, the callers allegedly feigned identities as employees of a telecommunications company, a bank, and police officers.

During this second encounter, the victim reportedly lost 5,700 euros, which was subsequently given to an unknown person who arrived at his location. In both documented instances, preliminary investigations into the alleged fraud have been initiated by the police. The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the calls and the individuals who were involved, and they are working to understand how the victims were misled by the deceptive calls.
