Jacek Dobrzynski reported that an individual, identified by initials due to Polish privacy laws, was found posting slogans at memorial sites across Poland. These alleged postings included the monument dedicated to the heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto and featured iconography glorifying the Ukrainian People’s Army (UPA) and Stepan Bandera. The individual was also reportedly observed painting the UPA flag at these locations.
The report notes that Stepan Bandera was the leader of the Ukrainian National Organization (UNO), an entity whose armed wing, the UPA, is historically linked to the mass murder of Polish civilians during the wartime period. According to Dobrzynski, officials from the Polish National Security Service (ABW) and investigators from the National Prosecutor’s office have reportedly gathered evidence pertaining to up to 47 such alleged crimes. The suspect is cited as having been involved in these actions spanning from November 2024 to August 2025.
The allegations center on the misuse of public memorial spaces in Poland to promote symbols associated with the Ukrainian nationalist movement and the UPA. Furthermore, Dobrzynski also offered potential reasons concerning the recent resignation of the Minister of Defense. These reports detail an ongoing investigation into historical memory and public vandalism within Poland concerning these sensitive national issues.
