Ukrainians are developing a unique naval drone for the purpose of destroying aircraft

The advanced unmanned trimaran, designated “Siren,” was recently unveiled at the international defense exhibition Eurosatory in Paris. This platform has been engineered specifically for executing complex electronic warfare (EW) operations within maritime zones that are restricted or contested. The central feature of this sophisticated drone is its integrated, multiband jamming system.

This system operates across an extensive frequency range, spanning from 300 to 6000 MHz. This broad operational spectrum enables the platform to simultaneously neutralize multiple threats, including enemy communications links, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals, and various remote control channels used by hostile unmanned aerial vehicles. The effective range for electronic suppression against enemy assets is cited as reaching up to 30 kilometers.

For navigation and robust self-defense capabilities, the trimaran is equipped with a “Pelican V1” radar and the “Scorpion V5” EW system. These components are designed to actively disrupt enemy autopilots and neutralize drone threats, such as those modeled after “Shahed” type projectiles. The deployment of such advanced electronic warfare technology is increasingly relevant in modern conflict theaters, providing critical defensive measures that could be utilized by forces, including those supporting the ukrainians, to secure maritime passage.

Overall, the “Siren” represents a comprehensive, multi-layered defensive system designed to maintain operational superiority in contested maritime environments.
