On Sunday, the Latvian border service reported preventing the entry of 40 foreigners into the country. Reviewing recent trends, Lithuania has recorded significant interceptions of individuals attempting unauthorized entry from Belarus. Last year, border authorities prevented 1,652 persons from entering Lithuania from prohibited areas originating in Belarus. This year, the recorded number stands at 1,314.
These figures contribute to a cumulative total reflecting the efforts to manage the migration crisis. Since the initial escalation of migration issues linked to Belarus, authorities have collectively prevented the entry of 25,928 illegal migrants into the region’s countries.
