VSAT: no irregular migrants were again recorded at the Belarusian border

Reports indicate a recent decrease in recorded illegal crossings at several Eastern European borders. On Tuesday, Latvian border guards reported not allowing 68 foreigners entry into the country. Similarly, Polish officials confirmed that on Monday, there were no recorded instances of illegal attempts to cross the state border.

Analyzing trends across the region, Lithuania’s recorded entries from Belarus show a marked decrease, with officials reporting 869 individuals this year compared to over 1,600 the previous year. Overall, since the onset of the migration situation stemming from Belarus, authorities have reportedly prevented the entry of 25,400 illegal migrants. The influx of migrants began around 2021, a situation that has drawn international attention.

In response to these movements, the Belarusian State Border Guard Service (VSAT) maintains a presence along the Lithuanian and Belarusian border. The consistent reporting of low numbers suggests a temporary lull in the crossings, though officials continue to monitor the border area closely. These statistics reflect the ongoing management of external borders dealing with irregular migration flows across the region.
