VSAT: The eighth day of unchecked illegal migrants on the Belarusian border

On Sunday, the Lithuanian border service reported preventing nineteen individuals from entering the country. This follows reports from Polish authorities on Saturday, who indicated that they had not registered the presence of such persons. These specific border incidents contribute to a larger pattern of border management related to migration flows.

Reviewing annual statistics reveals a significant trend in border control measures concerning arrivals from Belarus. Last year, Lithuanian authorities reported that they prevented more than 1,600 persons from entering the country via prohibited locations. In contrast, the figure for this year stands at 775 individuals.

These figures illustrate the ongoing efforts by border agencies to monitor and manage irregular crossings. Cumulatively, since the onset of the migration crisis linked to Belarus, authorities have recorded that approximately 25,300 irregular migrants have not been allowed to enter Lithuania. These statistics underscore the volume of border interceptions.

The data highlights consistent action by national services to enforce entry regulations, ensuring that unauthorized persons do not enter the country through established or prohibited points. The persistent monitoring suggests continued vigilance in managing the flow of migrants across the border.
