The nomination period for candidates to lead the Democratic Union “For the sake of Lithuania” concluded on Friday. According to a statement from the party, 46 of the branches submitted their nominations. The nominations were distributed across several potential candidates.
Specifically, 40 democratic branches put forward V. Sinkevičius as a candidate for the European Parliament. Additionally, nominations were cast for L.
Kukuraitis by four democratic branches, A. Butkevicius by one branch, and L. Savickas.
The definitive selection of the chairman for the Democratic Union “For the sake of Lithuania” is scheduled to occur at the party’s convention on July 25. At this event, delegates will vote to elect the party’s chairman and deputy, and they will also vote to renew the party’s governing bodies. L.
Savickas highlighted the primary objective for the delegates attending the meeting: that Lithuania should demonstrate leadership during the proceedings. The Democratic Union “For the sake of Lithuania” was initially established in early 2022.
