36 million euros of the loan from ŠIB to Grindos is guaranteed by the Vilnius municipality

A recent Council decision has established a crucial financial framework for the municipality by providing an unconditional first claim guarantee of up to 36 million euros for ŠIB. This guarantee is designed to secure the obligations of Grinda in connection with a planned loan agreement. Under the terms established, the associated loan will carry a repayment period of up to 15 years, commencing from the date the contract is signed.

The capital secured through this financing is earmarked specifically for vital investments in surface wastewater management infrastructure. These funds are scheduled for deployment over the period spanning 2026 through 2030. The scope of the planned works is comprehensive, aiming to modernize and expand critical municipal systems.

The necessary investments encompass several key areas of infrastructure improvement. These include the expansion of existing rainwater collection networks, the reconstruction of aging and worn-out piping systems, and the installation of new surface wastewater treatment plants. Furthermore, the budget allocation accounts for the acquisition of necessary technical equipment to support these large-scale upgrades.

By securing this substantial financial backing, the municipality aims to enhance its environmental resilience and public utility services. The guaranteed funds are essential for executing these complex infrastructural projects, ensuring that the necessary upgrades to wastewater and drainage systems can proceed according to the established timeline and budgetary parameters.
