6 drone operators were caught in a week, flying their drones near airports

Multiple instances of unauthorized drone flights have been recorded near Kaunas Airport over several days, leading to detentions of local citizens. On May 29th, at approximately 3:20 PM, an unauthorized drone flight was detected near the airport facility. The Lithuanian citizen detained at that time stated that the drone was being used for professional purposes, specifically the inspection of solar power equipment.

A similar violation occurred on May 30th, around 5:40 PM. During this incident, an individual claimed that the drone was utilized to inspect the roof of a recently repaired house. The pattern continued on June 1st, when another unauthorized flight was recorded in the vicinity of the Kaunas Airport, happening around 8:20 PM.

On this date, the citizen involved explained that the drone was part of geodetic measurement activities. The repeated nature of these incursions has prompted discussions regarding enhanced air security measures. In response to escalating air threats, the country is reportedly seeking advanced technological solutions capable of countering both drones and balloons.

On June 1st, a further detention took place around 7:10 PM, further illustrating the ongoing enforcement efforts related to unauthorized aerial vehicles near the sensitive airspace. These recent events underscore the regulatory focus on maintaining controlled airspace surrounding the airport.
