Mindaugas Bilius, president of the Lithuanian Paralympic Committee and a Paralympic champion, stated that the committee’s primary goal is to ensure that individuals with disabilities are treated equally within society. Speaking about the first half of the year, Bilius highlighted the return of Lithuania to the Winter Paralympic Games after a 32-year absence, calling it a significant and positive achievement. During the Winter Games, athlete Rapolas Micevičius competed, securing 9th place in the snowboard cross event and 13th place in the slalom downhill.
Bilius noted that the experience of the Winter Games provided a unique opportunity to feel the spirit and support for the nation’s athletes. Beyond the international sporting events, Bilius emphasized that a core focus of the committee remains public education. The primary direction of activity involves informing the public about the Lithuanian Paralympic movement and the sport itself, alongside promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities in general society.
The committee continues its efforts to raise awareness and integrate the Paralympic spirit into the broader community.
