Robertas Vėževičius about “Banga” among “Toplyga” leaders: “I want to participate in these races”

Gargždai Banga has emerged as the leading team in the six-team league following three consecutive victories. The squad, managed by David Afonso, has achieved notable success by defeating several established league frontrunners, including Kaunas, Vilnius, and Marijampolė. Speaking on the recent run of form, Gargždai Banga’s sports director, Robertas Vėževičius, attributed the success to several contributing factors.

“I think there are a few factors involved – good coaching, the players have put together a good team,” Vėževičius stated. He added that the combination of these elements leads to positive results. He emphasized that while the team maintains a grounded perspective, they are focused on participation in these competitions.

The team’s performance marks a significant achievement, particularly given the financial disparity between Gargždai Banga and other major clubs such as Vilnius and Kaunas. Despite these resource differences, the team has demonstrated capability. Vėževičius noted the strategic approach of the squad.

“We’re not flying through the clouds, we know where we are and what we’re up against. But in any case, we’d like to take part in these competitions and we know what’s going to happen.” The recent string of wins solidifies Gargždai Banga’s current standing and highlights the synergy within the team structure.
