On August 18, at 12:56 pm, the VPK (Police Department) received a report concerning suspicious materials located within a commercial warehouse in the Trakų district, specifically in the Moluvėnų village. The initial alert was triggered by the observation of two suspicious pallets on the preceding day, August 17, at 5:17 pm. Upon investigation, police officers conducted an inspection of the site.
During this process, the police successfully found a significant quantity of untaxed tobacco products. Authorities recovered 19,000 units of “Marlboro” brand cigarettes and an additional 1,000 units of “Winston” brand cigarettes. Crucially, these cigarettes were discovered without the mandatory banderoles issued by the Republic of Lithuania.
According to reports, the discovery was made and subsequently reported to the police by an employee working at the company premises. The seizure highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to monitor and prevent the illegal trade of tobacco goods. The incident underscores the importance of regulatory compliance in the tobacco sector.
