From today – traffic restrictions in the busy Vilnius street: the maximum speed changes

A section of Savanorių pr. 180-187C buildings, spanning approximately 200 meters, will undergo temporary traffic restrictions, with the speed limit reduced to 40 km/h. This necessary measure is in place due to ongoing infrastructure development related to the surface sewage network.

During the construction process, damage was sustained to an underground pipeline, which was attributed to inaccuracies found in the existing utility data records. Authorities have confirmed that there is no risk of gas leakage, and consequently, no immediate danger has been identified for the residents of the area. However, to ensure the continuation of the essential utility work, supplementary repair efforts on the damaged pipeline are required.

For commuters traveling through this segment of Vilnius, alternative routes have been established, allowing drivers to bypass the main work zone via the first lane. The responsible contractor, Grinda, has issued an apology for the temporary disruption and stated that maximum efforts are being made to complete the necessary repairs and restoration promptly. The focus of the current operation remains the stabilization and repair of the compromised pipeline system.

Public safety remains the highest priority as specialized crews conduct the necessary remediation work. Authorities advise the public to adhere strictly to posted speed limits and follow the guidance of site personnel while navigating the area. These ongoing repairs are crucial for the long-term maintenance of the city’s subterranean infrastructure in Vilnius.
