The production of the „Rail Baltica“ tracks is starting in the Vilnius district

The development of European railway infrastructure is progressing across multiple fronts, with significant updates reported for both Swiss and Lithuanian routes. In Switzerland, the railway construction route connecting Switzerland and Zehme is anticipated to receive its track system this autumn. This segment has already seen the laying of approximately 8.8 kilometers of European standard tracks.

Meanwhile, advancements are notable in Lithuania’s participation in the “Rail Baltica” project. Construction has reached a new phase with the installation of the initial tracks of a high international standard railway track system in the Jonava district, representing the most developed section of the route. The planned installation of this modern railway track system is viewed as a considerable asset.

According to Vice-Minister of Transport Roderick Žiobak, this development represents a substantial investment in the security of the entire Baltic region and enhances connectivity with Europe. Regarding the timeline for the Lithuanian segment, the company LTG Infra acquired materials for the upper road structure, specifically the tracks, in 2024. Completion of the full track system is scheduled for 2025.

These ongoing developments underscore a commitment to modernizing the regional rail network, ensuring that the necessary tracks and integrated system are in place to support increased cross-border traffic.
