Explosive ordnance was neutralized at a location following the discovery of a suspected device in a garden area. According to data provided by the Kaunas Firefighting and Rescue Department (PAGD), authorities received the initial report regarding the explosive item on Saturday morning. In response to the discovery of the dangerous object, local police initiated “Shield” protocol, a planned safety measure implemented due to the presence of the explosive device.

Specialized sappers were immediately dispatched to secure the area. Personnel from the J. Vitkaus Engineering Battalion, operating within the Sakiai district, were tasked with assessing and mitigating the threat.

The operation culminated in the successful disarmament of the ordnance. The sappers confirmed that the suspected item was a type of hand grenade, which they ultimately destroyed in place. The deployment of these specialized units ensured that the potential hazard posed by the grenade was fully contained, preventing any incident.
