A Panevėžys man was driven to the police by a drunk driver in his BMW – he got caught just after getting off the police station

The Panevėžys County Police Department issued a report detailing an incident that occurred on July 14th, at approximately 11:00 a.m. The situation involved a routine interaction with a man at the local police facility. According to the report, Rosita Klimkevičienė, an investigator with the Operations Division of the Panevėžys City and District Police Department, was conducting her duties when the individual arrived at the station to address an administrative offense record.

During communication with the man, Investigator Klimkevičienė observed signs suggesting potential intoxication. Consequently, she inquired about his method of arrival, to which the man stated that a friend had transported him to the department. Following the completion of the necessary administrative procedures and a farewell exchange, the investigator monitored the man as he prepared to depart.

However, shortly after leaving the premises and having received a fine related to other offenses, the individual reportedly took control of his BMW vehicle and drove away. The incident highlights a lapse in adherence to protocol following the conclusion of official business at the police station. The department noted that while the initial encounter was administrative, the subsequent actions of the man upon leaving the department raised concerns regarding his sobriety and compliance with lawful procedures.

Authorities are currently reviewing the circumstances surrounding his departure.
