The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) attributed the lower turnout of viewers at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest to the decision of several nations not to participate. Specifically, Iceland, Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, and Slovenia did not send representatives, citing objections to Israel’s participation in the contest. Furthermore, the figure for young viewers aged 15–24 saw a decrease, reaching 54.8%, compared to 60.4% recorded in May 2025.
At the 70th Eurovision event, the Bulgarian representative, Dara, secured the victory with the song “Bangaranga,” which addressed themes of painful lessons and parenting restrictions. Noamas Batten from Israel finished in second place for his performance of “Michelle,” while the Romanian artist Alexandra Cătănescu claimed third place with “Choke Me.” Additionally, Lithuania’s L. Ceccah placed 22nd in the competition.
The results confirm the structure of the annual Eurovision event, despite the noted decline in viewership numbers for this particular year. The contest continued to feature strong performances from various countries, establishing the winners and top finishers for the current cycle. The event remains a significant cultural fixture, drawing international attention across the continent.
