A tractor sanked in the Šakių district pond – firefighters saved the driver

On July 26th, at approximately 4:43 p.m., local emergency services were dispatched to the Šakių municipality, specifically to the Bizieriai village on Parko street. The call reported that a tractor had entered a pond, with the operator remaining seated in the cab. Upon arrival, the firefighters observed the tractor positioned about 20 meters from the shore, with only the cab visible.

Utilizing specialized rescue equipment, the personnel successfully retrieved the driver to the bank, where he was subsequently transferred to medical personnel for examination. These operations were part of a broader deployment of emergency services over the weekend. In addition to extinguishing multiple fires, firefighters responded to various incidents, including accidents on roadways and rescues from water bodies.

On Sunday, teams were involved in the removal of two bodies recovered from water. The scope of the emergency response also included medical assistance; during a separate fire incident, a man sustained injuries in the Vilnius district, receiving immediate examination from medics at the scene. Furthermore, during the pond incident, local assistance was provided when a farmer arrived with equipment to aid in the removal of the submerged tractor.

These varied calls demonstrate the comprehensive nature of the emergency services’ response across different types of incidents over the past weekend.
