After the attack in Berlin – new details: the attacker swore allegiance to the “Islamic State”

Prosecutors have confirmed that a video recovered from the phone of Abdulo Rahmano Ballout was recorded on the same day as the violent attack in Berlin. The footage, according to officials, reportedly shows a masked individual, presumed to be Ballout, swearing allegiance to the group “Islamic State.”

The discovery of the phone itself was reported by Bild newspaper, indicating it was found in a rented minivan that was utilized by the attacker during the incident. This minivan was reportedly driven into a crowd near the event in Tiergarten park.

The attack occurred during an LGBT+ festival, resulting in the death of a 65-year-old Polish woman and injuring 31 other people. During the incident, a vehicle crashed into the gathering. Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated publicly that the person depicted in the video is presumed to be the suspect in the attack.

The video evidence is being used by authorities to connect Ballout to the events. The investigation continues to focus on the timeline and the roles of those involved in the attack. The recovered material provides specific details regarding the ideological motivations associated with the perpetrator.
