The LRTK reported that it utilized the “Meta Official Requests” portal to address a Facebook account it alleged was systematically violating copyright laws and publishing content that did not comply with Lithuanian legislation. According to the commission’s findings, the account repeatedly published segments from television programs belonging to TV3, LRT, and LNK without the requisite authorization from the copyright holders. The LRTK stated in its report that these actions constituted a violation of Article 15, paragraph 1, points 1 and 8 of the Law on Copyright and Related Rights of the Republic of Lithuania.
Furthermore, the appeal highlighted other problematic content disseminated through the platform. Specifically, the commission noted that some recordings contained material that incited hatred against migrants and Muslims. Additionally, the account was found to have spread misinformation concerning the reunification of children with their parents in the event of conflict or air danger.
The submission through the Meta portal indicates the lrtk’s formal complaint regarding the platform’s usage. The findings suggest that the Facebook account in question was engaged in multiple forms of content infringement and the dissemination of prohibited material, prompting the commission’s official intervention.
