Are barriers often hidden in our heads? Business and public sector leaders identified what hinders women’s careers

The “Business Genius 2025” conference served as a forum for discussions on professional development, featuring notable representatives including the LKU credit unions group, Ieva Naudžiūnaitė, the executive director of the Lithuanian Central Credit Union, Orijana Mašalė, the deputy director of the Faculty of Management at Vilnius University, Jurgita Vizgirdaitė, and Inga Dikšaitienė of the travel agency “Tūkstantis mylių.”

During the career segments, speakers addressed prevailing gender expectations within the professional sphere. A key observation shared was that women frequently set exceptionally high standards for themselves and often exhibit a tendency to doubt their own readiness for sustained professional advancement. One speaker noted that leadership capabilities are not inherently gender-specific, suggesting that women sometimes underestimate their own potential.

When discussing women’s trajectories in the business sector, Dr. J. Vizgirdaitė presented findings derived from global business research conducted by Vilnius University.

This data provided empirical backing to the discussions regarding career opportunities. The presentations collectively emphasized that self-perception and internalized standards significantly influence career progression. The dialogue underscored the necessity of recognizing inherent potential rather than adhering to traditional gendered expectations.

The conference aimed to equip participants with insights to navigate the modern professional landscape, encouraging all attendees to view their capabilities through a lens of objective professional assessment.
