At the end of July, a new production line worth 11.5 million euros from the company “Rapsoila” will be in operation

Current efforts are concentrated on the installation, rigorous testing, and commissioning phases of the advanced technological systems. The facility anticipates commencing commercial operations by the end of July. According to Ovidijus Macijauskas, the overarching objectives of the project extend beyond merely boosting output; the initiative is fundamentally designed to modernize the entire production process.

The core output of the plant is a second-generation biodiesel fuel. This fuel source is derived from agricultural and industrial waste streams, including materials such as straw, wood residue, and used cooking oil. This feedstock approach represents a significant advancement when compared to first-generation biodiesel, which traditionally utilized edible food crops such as rapeseed, sunflower, soybean, or palm oil.

The transition to waste-based inputs positions the facility within the realm of sustainable energy solutions by minimizing reliance on arable land and food resources. The successful integration of these new technologies is expected to enhance both the volume and the environmental profile of the resulting fuel. Stakeholders anticipate that the successful commissioning will solidify the site’s role in advancing sustainable industrial practices within the region, culminating in the planned launch at the end of the month.
