Darnu Group begins the second phase of the Neris River cleanup

An initiative to clean the Neris River continues this year, aiming to address significant pollution levels observed in the waterway. Last year’s cleanup efforts revealed substantial amounts of debris submerged in the city center, highlighting the considerable impact of human activity on the local environment. In response, the project organizers have committed to cleaning the entire 24-kilometer stretch of the river throughout this year.

Akvilė Liaudanskienė, Director of Corporate Affairs and Marketing at Darnu Group, which spearheaded the effort, stated that such projects are vital. She noted that the initiative serves not only to improve the cleanliness of the river but also to raise public awareness and strengthen community ties to the natural environment. The scope of the current phase involves cleaning the riverbed across an estimated 7.5 to 8 kilometers.

Similar to the first phase, the work will focus on the segment of the river located within the city center. This sustained effort demonstrates a commitment to environmental stewardship within Vilnius. By systematically removing pollution, the project seeks to restore the ecological health of the Neris River, ensuring a cleaner passage for the community in the coming year.

The ongoing commitment underscores a sustained focus on mitigating urban pollution in the waterway.
