The area surrounding the Sakai neighborhood is undergoing a significant revitalization, resulting in enhanced functionality and convenience. Prior to the reconstruction efforts, sections of K. Jelskio Street were noted for lacking adequate infrastructure for safe pedestrian and cycling use, including insufficient lighting and poorly designed crossings.
According to Mykolas Čiplys, Head of the Lease and Sales Department at Darnu Group, the initial phase of development addressed these critical deficiencies. The improvements involved upgrading the roadway along a section of K. Jelskio Street to optimize traffic flow.
Crucially, the project incorporated dedicated, separate paths for pedestrians and cyclists, which are delineated by integrated green strips. The scope of this initial work focused specifically on the segment of K. Jelskio Street located between the junctions of Parodų Street and Šaltūnų Street.
Furthermore, related infrastructure, including a local cul-de-sac, was also rehabilitated as part of this first phase. These targeted upgrades aim to fundamentally improve the usability and safety profile of the thoroughfare. By separating modes of transport and enhancing pedestrian amenities, the reconstruction effort is transforming the area into a more accessible and modern urban space.
The implementation of these changes on K. Jelskio Street represents a key step in modernizing the neighborhood’s infrastructure.
