An indictment was formally announced during proceedings at the Kaunas District Court, following the initiation of a criminal case. State Prosecutor Procurator Darius Valkavičius detailed the allegations, which center on the alleged misuse of funds by a politician. According to statements previously issued by the Special Investigations Service (SIS), the politician is accused of utilizing a variety of payment sources to cover supposed personal expenses.
These sources reportedly included funds provided by a public institution, several joint-stock companies, and cash or payments made via personal bank cards belonging to various individuals. The funds in question were allegedly directed toward specific purchases, notably the procurement of fuel and the installment payments for television and associated equipment. Law enforcement authorities assert that the politician received compensation totaling 3,100 euros through these transactions, which they claim were unjust.
During the hearing, D. Valkavičius specified the entities involved in the alleged transactions. The public institution identified is the Lithuanian Agricultural Advisory Service.
Furthermore, the investigation implicated the Agricultural Bank, alongside several other private individuals, as sources of the funds used to cover these alleged expenses. The proceedings represent a formal legal action detailing the scope of the financial transactions under scrutiny.
