The police have reported details regarding two separate instances of alleged fraud involving impersonation. On Saturday, a woman born in 1968 contacted the Klaipėda County Police Department. She reported that on July 3, at approximately 10:50 pm, she was at her residence in Klaipėda.
She claimed that unknown individuals, who spoke Russian, arrived at her home. These persons were posing as employees from a telecommunications company, a bank, and police officers. According to the report, the individuals fraudulently obtained €12,700 from the victim.
Separately, on the same Saturday, a different woman, born in 1950, contacted the Vilnius County Police Department. She stated that on July 3, at approximately 12:30 pm, she was at her home on Taikos street in Vilnius. She reported that unknown persons, also speaking Russian, visited her.
These individuals were allegedly impersonating bank and police personnel and subsequently took €11,500. In both cases, the respective police departments received reports of the incidents. Authorities have since opened criminal cases related to fraud concerning both reported events.
