The Hungarian Ministry of Defense reported that Hungarian defense forces detected a plane shortly after its takeoff using radar technology. In response, two fighter jets were immediately scrambled. The incident concluded several minutes later when the aircraft made an emergency landing near the village of Gerena.
The Hungarian Gripen fighters located the damaged plane and remained overhead until rescue helicopters and ground emergency services arrived at the scene. Police and other relevant services also arrived, initiating an inspection and investigation. According to the Minister of Defense, preliminary information indicated that no injuries were sustained.
Geographically, the Kalocsa airport is situated approximately seven kilometers southeast of the Pakša nuclear power plant, while the village of Gerena is located about nine kilometers north. The Pakša nuclear power plant is designated as a special protection object. The response from the Hungarian defense forces was coordinated to manage the situation involving the civilian aircraft.
