Head of the Ministry of Agriculture A. Palionis about the possibility of replacing K. Mažeika: he has accumulated a lot of competence

The current Minister of Agriculture addressed journalists at the parliament on Tuesday, commenting on a colleague’s capabilities. “I think he has a lot of it in terms of competence,” the Minister stated. He added that discussions frequently occur within the Rural Affairs Committee, noting that detailed conversations are often held there.

The Minister mentioned that he had not yet elaborated on specific work matters, indicating that the committee discussions were ongoing. Separately, political developments were reported by ELTA concerning shifts in the ruling coalition. According to ELTA, the council of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP) made a decision over the summer to alter the composition of the ruling majority.

This change involved the removal of the party “Nemuno aušra” from the coalition structure. Furthermore, the LSDP council initiated consultations with the Democratic Union, “For the sake of Lithuania,” regarding the future political alignment. These reports highlight both internal discussions regarding governmental efficiency and external negotiations concerning the broader political landscape.

The focus remains on determining the path forward for the government, with stakeholders discussing the necessary adjustments. The committee work, as noted by the Minister, continues to generate substantial dialogue about agricultural policy and sector management.
