The reconstruction project for Dituva Gardens commenced last year, encompassing approximately 300 meters of the primary road linking the city center to Šilutė. This significant infrastructure upgrade intersects both the main thoroughfare leading to the garden society and a newly developed section of road servicing the retail chain “Iki” store. Previously, managing vehicular flow into the gardens required a detailed system of traffic controls.
Drivers accessing the grounds were obligated to stop, yielding to main road traffic. Furthermore, the speed limit in the area immediately preceding the intersection was restricted from 90 to 50 kilometers per hour, and dedicated traffic lanes were established for entry from both the Priekulė and Dituva directions. The current reconstruction effort has integrated the design of a circular interchange, a feature developed in tandem with the planning for the adjacent commercial store.
This modernization aims to improve overall traffic efficiency and safety for visitors to the gardens. The updated road network seeks to streamline movement through this key junction, accommodating the increased flow of vehicles while maintaining access to the cultural and recreational areas of the gardens. The project represents a comprehensive overhaul of the local transportation corridor, addressing historical traffic bottlenecks with modern engineering solutions.
