Police authorities reported multiple instances of illegal firearms and ammunition being discovered in residential units over the weekend. In one incident, a man, born in 1987, was involved when he found a semi-automatic rifle while cleaning a rented apartment located on Partizanų street after noon on Sunday. Authorities stated that the make and model of the weapon are currently under identification.
Additionally, fourteen units of ammunition of various calibers were recovered. The weapon and the ammunition were subsequently seized, and an ongoing pre-trial investigation has been initiated concerning the matter. Separately, another incident occurred on Sunday evening near 18:35 in the Tauragė district.
Here, a woman, born in 1983, found a homemade firearm within the basement of a rented apartment situated on Miško street. Within the room, she also discovered a semi-automatic firearm. This weapon was seized by law enforcement, and a separate pre-trial investigation has been launched.
These discoveries highlight ongoing police efforts to secure illegal weaponry within the community. The authorities confirmed that in conjunction with these findings, other items were recovered, including additional rifles, ammunition, and a homemade firearm at the man’s residence. The police department confirmed that all recovered weapons and ammunition were seized as part of the active investigations.
