Two separate incidents involving impaired driving were reported by the Kaunas City Police Department on August 25. The first incident occurred around 16:30 hours in the intersection of Ežerėlis and Saulė and Miško streets. Police reported that a man, born in 1951, driving a Toyota vehicle, collided with a stationary Kawasaki motorcycle before fleeing the scene.
Officers later located the driver and determined that he had a moderate blood alcohol concentration of 1.91 promille. A second similar event took place later the same day, around 18:20 hours, in the Antagynė village within the Kaunas district. In this instance, a different individual, born in 1994, was involved.
This man was reportedly operating a BMW when his vehicle collided with multiple stationary motorcycles—specifically, a Kawasaki, a moped, and a Peugeot motorcycle—and subsequently left the scene. In both documented cases, the police responded to accidents involving intoxicated drivers. The department emphasized that these incidents highlight ongoing concerns regarding impaired driving within the Kaunas area.
Authorities continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding both collisions, noting that in both instances, the individuals involved were operating vehicles while under the influence.
