Police reported an incident in Marijampolė involving the theft and subsequent recovery of a vehicle. On Saturday, a woman reported that her personal car had been stolen from the yard of her residence sometime between 22:00 hours on July 31 and 10:00 hours on August 1, near Panausupis street. Later that same day, at approximately 09:23 in Marijampolė, a different location near Red Hot Springs street, the stolen car was discovered.
Authorities found the vehicle having driven off the road and subsequently into a pond. Investigation revealed that the car was being operated by a 40-year-old woman. It was determined that the driver was not legally permitted to operate the vehicle and was under the influence of alcohol, testing at 3.14 promils.
Preliminary reports indicated that the woman sustained no injuries from the incident. However, the incident resulted in property damage estimated at 2000 euros. Authorities have initiated a preliminary investigation into the case, which involves both the theft of the vehicle and the subsequent operation of the car while the driver was intoxicated.
