Representatives from several key state agencies, including the Police Department, the State Border Guard Service (VSAT), the Fire and Rescue Department (FPD), and the Public Security Service (VST), have communicated their budgetary requirements for the upcoming year. According to reports provided to the news agency Elta, these various departments stressed that the highest budgetary priorities must be allocated to personnel salaries, operational motivation, and capacity building initiatives. Collectively, the agencies have cited an additional funding requirement totaling nearly 169 million euros.
The Police Department submitted the most substantial additional request for the next fiscal period. Specifically, the Ministry of Internal Affairs sought an increase of 168.7 million euros compared to the current year’s allocation. This requested sum is intended to cover several critical areas of operation.
Of the total amount requested, 49.8 million euros is earmarked for wages and social guarantees. The remaining funds, amounting to 88.2 million euros, are designated for procuring material and technical equipment, improving general working conditions across the department, enhancing tactical readiness, and covering assumed financial commitments. These figures outline the substantial investment sought to maintain and upgrade the operational capacity of the various security and emergency services.
